the car modifying game...

its popular now. more than it used to be. its in the movies, everyone does it. You see the custom porsches to riced out civics on your way to work. (well, not too many custom porsches). Its something I was really into, tastefully mind you, but something I'm slowly getting away from. its not something cheap, and not only does it waste a lot of your money it actually LOWERS your cars value, which is dropping as we speak, unless you've got a model T or a Aston one-77 in the garage. follow these directions, and you're alright in my books.

1) Pick the right platform. A new Corolla is not a platform. A Supra Is.
2) If you can't afford a good platform, save up. Don't go running to that integra.
3) Front-wheel is just something that leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Unless you're commuting from point A to point B; in which case, fine !
4) If your first 'mod' is a bodykit, sell your car and get into an aesthetic hobby, such as interior design; you'll end up with a sweet pad !
5) 3" straight pipes are reserved for those with 8+ cylinders or big turbos.
6) Chrome, esp. on wheels, is reserved for rods and certain euro cars.
7) Chirping your front wheels at every stop sign is annoying. Stop it.
8) The Bass accompanied by the rattling trunklid is annoying. Stop it.
9) Don't try to turn your honda into a bimmer. I've seen it, its just weird.
10) Stop trying to pull on every superior car you come by. They're not interested.
11) Don't lower your car so much. Lowering a little to fill that fender gap is ok, but if you drive the thing to work why lower it 1" off the ground ? thats a good way to ruin a nice lip.
12) No one cares who's sponsoring you. Don't put commercial decals on your car. its a good way to attract cops.
13) Give it a decent color paint. rainbow is not a decent color paint.
14) Don't get the ocean blue HID. It's annoying to oncoming traffic, and looks pretty ricey. get 6000K, its a sharp white !
15) No interior lighting... apart from what comes with the car
16) No Exterior lighting... apart from what comes with the car... well maybe auxiliary driving lights if you rally !
17) Get purposeful wheels. rollin' on twenny-twos is not purposeful, nor tasteful.
18) Engine mods before everything else. not a catback and intake. internals. overbuild internals, then whatever, then exterior.

2010 Challenger : My review !

yes, thats a 34 Ford Roadster parked behind it.

First impressions - this thing is HUGE. sleeker than the charger, similar dimensions. The one I got personal with wasnt a srt-8, but the 5.7L R/T. the hood is crafted beautifully, and makes a bold statement. Exhaust note is awesome, low rumble at idle, roar at low rpms, wail at high rpms.

The good - the 5.7 provides plenty of power for street driving. Gobs of torque, this one had the 6-speed manual TREMEC out of the viper. Looks aggressive yet refined. interior is well designed, in terms of ergonomics, seats are very nicely done. The undercarriage is EXTREMELY well designed, everything is tucked beautifully, and the exhaust piping is nice and large ;)

The not so good - the srt8 (6.1L) is the only one with brembos. Not an available option with the R/T. The big brake option just gives you bigger rotors and calipers. Interior still has the plasticky feel of new american cars. price difference with the srt is 10 large, which makes the srt not so appealing. 20" optional chrome wheels (on this car) are cladded. not actually chrome dipped. Boo.

Harry Potter

For years I refused to read harry potter. Too trendy...

Finally my gf made me pick up the first book, and now I'm hooked !?! Read 1-4 in a week or so, on the fifth one now. Don't have a lot of time, given number 5 is 700+ pages, its asking for a bit of a commitment.

On a positive side, I'm seeing lots of good messages in the series... No matter how un-Christian magic is and blah blah blah (I'm catholic so don't take offence). If you haven't read any yet, pick one up !

Training and Diet progress

144lbs. just checked. I'm 5'5" so thats not that bad. its been 4 months of eating clean, save for the weekends where I eat like an absolute maniac, stuffing everything I can into my mouth.

Before I started, 182lbs, 14.7% bodyfat

Diet -
First 2 months - LOW carbs, high protein, high good fats
Third month - moderate carbs, high protein, moderate good fats
Fourth month till now - what carbs ? high protein, moderate good fats + 200mg caffeine a day spiking to 600mg caffeine a day to off cycle - 1 espresso or 2 coffees a day. first day of off cycle was one massive headache, literally.

Training-
First 2 months - 4Xweek lifting, 10Xweek cardio
Third month - 5Xweek lifting, 7Xweek cardio
Fourth month till now - 3Xweek lifting 7Xweek cardio

now I'm at 144lbs, 10.3% bodyfat. goal is to maintain weight and drop bf to single digits. Numbers are off a tanita machine, checked 2X daily for consistency.

Would I recommend caffeine to anyone? hell yes, risk does NOT compare to ephedrine, and its pretty damn easy to get off. One day of discomfort... boo hoo
